Analysts at USTRANSCOM and the Transportation Component Commands (TCCs) needed a system to provide vital information to the decision-makers. The ability to collect, transmit, assimilate, process and analyze Defense Transportation System (DTS)-related data required robust, high capacity, yet user friendly, management tools based on state-of-the-art automation and telecommunications technology. One of the key objectives of the proof-of-concept was to demonstrate the feasibility of a DOD-wide integrated operations system. The proof-of-concept was completed within 100 working days. A Data Warehouse System using Teradata database and the data from Air Mobility Command (AMC) and DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) was initiated as Proof-of-Concept. The DataTech Group, Inc. in a sub-contract agreement with the NCR Corporation participated as a key technical contributor on the project. One of the key objectives of the Proof-of-concept was to demonstrate that a Third Normal Physical Data Model implementation with full referential integrity on Teradata database solution can provide a robust, high capacity, yet easily adaptable to end user needs solution.
